Increase Your Vocabulary in 4 Short Weeks

If you want to get ahead in your life, your work or business, and your personal and professional relationships, what is the one thing that you can most easily and profitably improve? The answer that most intelligence testing experts would give is: “your vocabulary.”

[NOTE: If you're looking to improve your vocabulary right now, we highly recommend Ultimate Vocabulary Software]

Not only is vocabulary an extremely reliable indicator of your intelligence, but also it has been demonstrated beyond doubt that simply increasing your vocabulary gives you a strong edge in academic, professional and other endeavors.

A multi-university study, for example, took a large sample of first year students and enrolled them on a vocabulary course. Then these students were tracked during the rest of their time at university. Without exception, the students who successfully finished the vocabulary course achieved higher grades than all the other students at the universities.

But the benefits of a powerful vocabulary are not limited to academic pursuits. An extensive study by the Human Engineering Lab found that a good vocabulary was the only trait that successful Americans had in common. The study ranged across all levels of academic and social backgrounds and found that the highest earners were those people that scored highest on a standard vocabulary test.
Why is vocabulary so powerful? Why should knowing more words have such a fundamental impact on how successful we can be? The fundamental reason is that while muscles are the tools of manual labor, words themselves are the tools of intellectual endeavors – whether you are in business for yourself, or working in a blue collar or white collar environment, words are your means of performing the most crucial task you must do in order to succeed – communicating with your fellow humans.

If increasing your vocabulary is such a key secret of success, you won’t be surprised to hear that thousands of people spend years of their lives and a lot of sweat and tears working on building their vocabulary.

Sadly, many of these people, who richly deserve the success they crave for, are going about the task of increasing their vocabulary the wrong way!
If you don’t understand the best ways to build your vocabulary, you risk performing the linguistic equivalent of repeatedly knocking your head against a brick wall.

To build a powerful vocabulary in this day and age, you do not need to memorize word lists from the dictionary.  You do not need to spend painful hours on mindless repetition. All you need to do is to make increasing your vocabulary fun and interesting. There is plenty of free information on how to do just that, so the world is your oyster!
