GMAT or graduate management admission test is the important test to gain admissions into reputed management institutions worldwide. Worldwide institutions and universities place emphasis on GMAT score. Sitting fees for GMAT is around $250 which makes this test very important for many aspirants. This is a computer test which tests a candidate’s mathematics and English aptitude. This test is administered in English which makes this test much more tricky and interesting. This is a computer based test. It measures candidate’s verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills. This test determines the students various abilities which are gained during his/her work experience or education. Analytical writing assessment is the first section which needs to be answered after which quantitative and verbal ability section. It is important to have good command of English to answer these sections. Vocabulary and the usage of it in relevant context can change the entire meaning of the sentence. Sentence meaning depends upon the relevant usage of words and the context.

Verbal section consists of 41 questions. Three different questions are asked in verbal section they are sentence correction, reading comprehension and critical reasoning. Getting above 44 in this section has been rare but critics state this as one of the main scoring section. Correct and effective expression with proper dictation is very important to score marks in this section. Correct expressions states usage of grammar and structure of the sentence. Clarity and concision is very much required to express the idea. Suitability and accuracy is required for proper diction. Critical reasoning tests your logical and critical thinking. Here students will need to reason out their appropriate stand on a particular topic with their thoughts and assumptions.

Reading comprehension tests the readers reading ability. This is regarded as one of the toughest sections in GMAT because of the complexity in language present. Quantitative section contains two different types of questions which are problem solving and data sufficiency. Problem solving questions tests the quantitative reasoning ability.

While answering the data sufficiency questions one should remember to replace the word “is” with the word “must be”. This eliminates most of the problems because GMAT tests “must” be the case. In the writing section one should use his creative abilities to max. Linguistic and structural features should be used in the essay. Ability to organize, develop and express ideas are very important.
